Well. Today was a great day for me.
I left the house in my Charcoal suit and drove out 20 minutes to where the the job fair was. As soon as I got there, there were already people but I was like the 27th person in line to get inside. So when I get into the auditorium i sign my application and get in line for an on spot interview. I did two interviews. One with a person who was hiring, and another who was a store manager. I've always felt confident going into interviews and goodness It seemed one of the managers was interested in me. Unfortunately they had just filled up the entry level positions I was applying for, but! I was the first person to be put on hold for the newest store location opening next week. So I might get called in for another interview.
So after that passed I drove back home feeling confident I might get the job. When I got back home I just went straight to my room, changed clothes, and started playing drums for about an hour. I was testing out my new Shure S112 headphones and I'm very pleased with them. I was playing along to a click or metronome while also playing along to some tunes. By around 1pm I started getting ready to volunteer for a track meet. I fixed my hair, packed some food and walked down to my high school's track since I lived 4 houses away. I have a lot of memories from high school. I'm in my second semester of college and by walking around the school campus it was quite memorable by the way I got there. I would always walk down that way for track practice when I was in high school.
So I met my High School Cross Country coach who is still a great friend to heart and she just started giving me things to do. I like helping out at track meets. I think it's great be back at my high school's track hosting a dual meet between one other school. The other cool thing about helping out was I got to see some of my old team mates I grew up with over the years. It's still amazing to see how many runners from the team draw inspiration from me. It's also great that they have a goal to chase down for. It's an amazing feeling to have. I'm glad that I left some sort of legacy for other runners to look up to. For my volunteer operations I was running the entry sheets from the check-in tent to the starting line, then I started to move around the hurdles and the running blocks. I really just did the things that nobody else was doing at the time. We all went back and forth on the roles we did. It was a great time to be out there!
As I got home, I went and looked back at what I did and really thought about myself. I really thought I did a great job at moving things around and making sure the meet runs efficiently. I really did think I helped out quite a bit.
Though with all the volunteer work I did, I still look at myself and think "why do I still not have a job"? I would do excellent in positions that I use most of myself physically. I've been on a job hunt for 10 months and still have not landed a part time position.
